How do you perceive yourself as a student

Before I go further about my own perception of being a student, I’d like to elaborate the meaning of student itself. Student to me is a person who is in the process of gaining knowledge. Formal learning is provided in four types of institution which are pre-school, primary institution, secondary institution and finally the tertiary institution.  Each student comes to institution holds one wish, which is they want to be success in their studies and get an excellent result their examinations.
Being a student in a highest institution brought a new phenomenon to me. Before I entered my institution, that called Uniten, I saw many types of tertiary institution like colleges and universities that come from both government and private companies. School’s life and university’s life are totally different. I can still recall when I was in school, I believe most students are organized by guardians and teachers. The administration, rules, the engagement with studies, the people around and the lifestyle are different. In fact, when you are in University’s life, you are even close like an adult that brings yourself to be independent at all time.
Once I entered University’s life, I have been introduced with my own major, which is Foundation in Finance. Foundation is a next level after SPM, which is also same level like Diploma, Matriculation,              and A Level’s. So, as if I pass my foundation, I have a chance to further my studies in Degree level after a year. In University, all of the students have been exposed with the new life environments like hostel, campus, class and with various kinds of activities. As a student, there are a lot of privileges that we will gain. After graduated, we are able to find an awesome job that will generate good effects to ourselves. But, to be a success person there’s no easy way and in fact, we have to work hard to accomplish for anything that we want in our lives.
Student is not just an ordinary title to person who holds it but it is an important responsible too.  As a student, we can see diversity around is. Study is our priority. Study is not only reading books, but you can make a different in your studying and make it more interesting. Being a student will give a chance for us to gain and generate knowledge. For example, when you do a study group, you will get an opportunity to share your own ideas and exchange as many information as possible. Other than that, when you are given assignments, you will have to be able to think in a critical way and show your ability to deliver you ideas.
Sometimes, we can see that most of student are getting stress and not able to solve the problems. Mostly, students get depressed because of their problems in studies or the environment. There are many factors that will cause them to be stress like improper time management, studying in last minute, peer pressure, lack of sleep hours and so on. Those problems are common among students nowadays and therefore, student should be able to manage their time well as time management is the main factor to be well-organized person.
Furthermore, there are a lot of activities that student can be joined while being in campus’ life. Sports, club and society can helps student to have an active life and be responsive to things around them. Those activities will help student from being bored by getting stuck reading books and study all the time. Some particular activities help student to have a leadership skills that which are very important especially for their career after leaving university’s life. Besides, those activities provided help student to improve their confident level.

Everyone has their own dreams.

16th November 2011

Today is the last day for students who haven't done their speaking corner to perform this task. Regarding to the title of the speaking corner which is dream, most of my friends talked about what are their wishes and ambitions in the future. Some give talked about their happy dreams and nightmares while sleeping. Every one of them has their own view about dream.
Some of them have talked about their experiences with nightmares which were a very interesting and attracted my attention in class. Some of my friends talked about their dreams in future, or what they want to be after leaving university's life. Of course, all of us want to be a successful person right. We all have dreams that will satisfy us like to be an excellent person, having a good career, having a big house, luxury cars and so on. So, there are many ways in order to achieve for whatever we want. From my friends' talked, I have been inspired to have dreams too. So what I can conclude that, if we want to accomplish our mission, we should work hard and sacrifice many things like study hard, study smart, sacrifice your time and also any other appropriate things.
After finished with the speaking corner, we made some discussion and overview to prepare for MUET examination that will be coming on this Saturday.

The day myself present for the speaking corner.

September 5 2011

Today is my turn to present my speaking corner. All of us have been given a title of 'Dream'. So, I did preparations wrote points about this topic, find the meaning of 'dream' itself and created a story that reflect to myself.
The hardest things about this assessment are you have to know how to elaborate your point, be confident when you are talking in front of audience and be respond with people that you are talking with. While waiting for my turn, two of my friends have presented their assessments and we have to concentrate to them. When I heard my name have been called, I stand and went to in front of people to present my speaking corner. Honestly, I was so nervous as if I thought that I will fail to impress my lecturer and my friends about my speech.I talked about all my dreams and wished. I was keen to tell about what I dream of to be and what I wished since I was a child. About 2 minutes, I end my speech. I hope I have inspired my friends and will get appropriate marks for my pointer for this subject.
I can see that people have many different dreams. I have been inspired by my friends' dreams too. Some of them want to be well-known person, have a luxury car or own a big house and many more.
Everyone in this world has their own dreams. They dream of to be successful person, have a great job and career, have a happy family and so on. From my point of view, people will not get for whatever they want, unless the work hard for it and put a lot of efforts. You have to sacrifice some appropriates things and there's no easy way to fulfill your dream.

It always seems impossible until its done

First English Class For Second semester.

SEPTEMBER 21, 2011

Again! English class start at 8 o’clock in the morning, same time and venue as in the previous semester. So, we have to wake up in the early morning, furthermore we have to catch up for the shuttle bus. While on my way to class, in my mind, I was thinking about what will happen in the class for this semester and for sure I felt totally anxious .When I saw unpredictable things , it’s kind of little mixed up. Then, we entered our class as usual and the environment quite different as I have been with some new student. Well, it’s quite awkward to me.

My lecturer for the English class is Madam Ummi Kalsom. She have strict-looking and made me scared! That’s just my first impression. But, she is really generous and gives many advises to us to be always well-prepared for any tests or exams. So as a start, we introduced ourselves. She talked about the class assessments and as usual, of course lecturer will tell us rules while being in the class, made an overview for this subject, and so on.
Even though it’s was our first class, Madam Ummi have told us some assessments that we are going to do like speaking corner, group assignment and tutorials. Well, she already told us to do speaking corner, same as what we did in semester 1. For those who have fluent English, don’t really have to be worried but folk like me, have to put a lot of effort! How can I improve my English, madam ? L So, we should start to be well-prepared for the speaking assessment as it will start on next week, I guess. The speaking corner will contribute 10% for our carry marks. The person who are going to perform for this task whose name starting with A and followed by next alphabet. Unfortunately and apparently, my initial name is started with A! then, Madam Ummi mentioned 4 names, and luckily, my turn is not going to be next week, but for sure, the next two week! I planned to give all my best, so I will try to build a good speech for this speaking corner.

The topic for us to present the speaking corner is 'Dream'. So, I was thinking, can I do about what I dream for my future? Or, it is going to be interesting if I talk about facts of 'Dream' while we are sleeping? Both can be accepted in the speaking corner. In my opinion, if we want to get high marks for this assessment, all of us should be well-prepared by preparing a good speech, interesting facts or opinions that can be shared among classmate, be confident while talking and so on. Well, that’s all for this first class. Will be continue J
